What is a Scanning Party?
A scanning party is a way us to save local historical photographs. In conjunction with the Plainville Historical Commission and the Plainville Public Library we will be hosting our next party ?. We ask that you bring no more than 10 historical photographs of Plainville. The staff will scan the photographs while you fill out a form to tell us as much as you can about the photograph.
Three digital copies will be made: One for you to take home, please bring your own flash drive. One copy will be for the use of the Historical Commission to use on thier Facebook page. And the last one will be uploaded to the SAILS Digital History Collection which is indexed and archived for history buffs everywhere to see.
So go ahead and find those boxes of old photos that grandma kept in the closet before they disintegrate and share them for all to see the history of our town!
You will be required to sign a Permissions Form and copyright notice to participate. Please note that we do have multiple scanners available at the library, but we ask you be patient if the turn out is large. If it all goes well, we will another in the fall. For each photo you will be required to tell us as much as you can about it with this metadata form (information for 2 photos per page) All forms will be available that evening but if you would like to print out and bring them with you, that is fine too.
