The Plainville Public Library is replacing our broken heating and air conditioning system and insulating the roof. So we will be closed September 1 through October 3.
The work to replace the HVAC system at the Plainville Public Library has been completed. We are excited to have working heat and air conditioning that will make your visit comfortable. The library's peaked roofs have been insulated with spray foam, which should save us money on our heating and cooling costs in the future.
But in doing the work the contractors uncovered an issue with mice above the drop ceiling. The Town has taken measures to clean and disinfect each tile and seal up any entry points. We have also entered into a mouse control program that should deter any mice from entry in the future. Although we love the book "The Library Mouse" by Daniel Kirk, wild mice are a totally different issue. We thank you for your understanding that we have delayed our re-opening 3 days, until Friday, October 4 so that we can take care of these hidden surprises that were uncovered while doing the HVAC and insulation work. We will be opening the book drops at the Library and the Wood School on Wednesday, October 2. We have changed all of the due dates for items checked out from the Plainville Library until October 21 to give everyone time to get things back to us. This is a very large project. We understand this will be a difficult time for those who use and enjoy our library. We appreciate your understanding that replacing our HVAC system has been 4 years in the making and we are excited that after this is complete we will have the ability to control the temperature in our building so you can be comfortable here. Thank you for your understanding. |
