How to Participate:
Register at the Plainville Public Library .
Log sheets are below to keep track of all the books you read.
FREE Resources are available from the 1000 Books Before Kindergarten website as well.
READ with your child. Studies have shown that reading with your child provides a great opportunity for bonding. Reading together is fun and will create life-long memories for the both of you. This is all done at your own pace. The goal is to read 1000 books before Kindergarten. Does it sound hard? Not really if you think about it. If you read just 1 book a night (yes, you can repeat books), you will have read 365 in 1 year, and 1,095 books in 3 years! Kids don't start kindergarten until age 5, so you have more time than you think!
KEEP TRACK of the titles of the books you read with your child. Make a record of what you are reading on the convenient log sheets available at the library. Any book read to your child counts - including teachers and siblings.
BRING IN YOUR LOG sheets to the Library when you complete the goal at each 100. Photo opportunities will be available to record your child's progress. Make it to 1000 books and the Library will have a special prize provided by the Friends of the Plainville Public Library.
