Mass Audubon's Oak Knoll Wildlife Sanctuary will be coming to give a great program on what you can find in your own backyard. Join us for a discussion at our library.
AND follow this up with a town hike on Sunday, April 7 at the Eagle Scout Trail at 10am (located on Everett Skinner Road) led by Oak Knoll Naturalists. Register for this free program by calling 508-223-3060 or online Sponosred in part by a grant from the Plainville Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Mass Cultural Council, a state agency. Food for Fines will be in effect from March 15 - April 15 only. In partnership with the Healthy Food Initiatives with the Hockomock YMCA, the Plainville Public Library will be accepting donations of healthy non-perishable items which will be donated to the school-based food pantry at the Wood School in Plainville. The school-based food pantry model is designed to increase access to healthy food for children. Families can face many barriers to utilizing town food pantries, including limited operating hours, demanding work schedules, and lack of transportation. These barriers are removed when children can take food home directly from school.
For each non-perishable food item donated between March 15 and April 15 at the Plainville Public Library we will waive the fine on one item on your library card. Food cannot be used towards lost or damaged items. We know the construction around us has been a little crazy in the last few months so we offer our customers these two great opportunities to pay down their fines with healthy food or to return late or lost items without fines as we welcome our new Town Hall neighbors in March. We know it hasn't been the best parking lot for the last couple of months and we want you to come back to the library. We are offering Fine Amnesty for all late or lost items if returned in good condition.
Return your late or lost library items between March 15 and April 15 to the Plainville Public Library and we will waive all fines associated with that item. This does not apply to damaged items. The new buildings might just be opened by then and we hope you stop by to check out the new Municipal Complex. And really, we just want our stuff back so others can borrow it. Don't you want your non-profit group or church represented on our community calendar?
We are working with Burbio.com, a free platform for non-profits and residents that streams library, school, and non-profit event information for communities all in one place. Burbio currently streams our Library, Town and school events. Now we want to add all our great non-profit organizations. This would be a great place to share your events and meetings. And if you use an online calendar already (like on your own webpage) it is no extra work from you! The system just harvests those events which you already post. All you have to do is tell Beth at Burbio (at btalamas@burbio.com) how to find your calendar. |
