Engineering FUN!

Kids in grades 2-5 can register for one or both of these programs on Engineering. 

March 10 @ 11am  - An important part of the engineering process is to redesign your original prototype to make it better. Come join real scientists as we improve upon a faulty original design! Grades 2-5 are welcome, please register ahead at the library.

March 24 at 11am - Don’t let it break! Join real scientists as we use engineering skills to design a way to protect a fragile object. Grades 2-5 are welcome, please register ahead at the library.

Supported by the Plainville Cultural Council with funding from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. 

Play with a Purpose Open House 2/28

Wednesday, February 28, 11am - 3pm
All are welcome to attend our Open House to show off our new Play with a Purpose areas for preschoolers and babies.  Refreshments served.  Let us show you our learning carts for Art, Tinkering, and Early Literacy which will enhance your child's school readiness. The NEW play unit was built by the Tri County Regional Vocational Technical students, and the theme of play determined by the mainpulatives available will be rotated to bring a new experience to your children. The baby area features a mat and mirrors and soft toys just for baby to explore motor development and self awareness. 
Sponsored by The Friends of the Plainville Public Library, Inc and the Mind in the Making grant, funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the Board of Library Commissioners.

Donate New PJs at Plainville Library

Blades is ready to give new warm PJS to kids in need in Massachusetts this winter. Donate NEW PJs at the Plainville Public Library throughout the month of February. For each pair you donate you will earn a raffle ticket to win an autographed copy of "Diary of  a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rule" by Jeff Kinney and the gmae Pictionary Junior.

Puzzle Sale February 17-24

​Like Puzzles? Buy one or many from the Friends of the Library Puzzle Sale starting Saturday, Feburary 17 at 10am and through February 24 during regular library hours.  There are 642 puzzles to choose from of which 41 are new, 465 were completed by our volunteers leaving 136 unverified for completeness. We will have a $5 bag sale on February 24. Items include puzzles from 24 to 3,000 pieces and prices are from .25-$2. Also, available will be our on-going book sale in the Friends’ hallway and Best Sellers and books of gift giving quality, which are priced slightly higher and are not included in the bag sale.

Make Felt Succulents

The next meeting of the Pinterest Can't Fail Club will be Wednesday March 7 at 7pm. We will be making  felt succlents in a charming metal container with a magentic backing. (selling on Etsy for $17.50) Our materials fee will be $8 and collected that evening. For Adults and Teens.

Lego Club February 10 & 12

Kids ages 5 and up are welcome to come play with the Library Legos. Saturday, February 10 from 10am - Noon and Monday Feburary 12 from 6 - 7:30pm. We will display your creations in the Library for all to see!

· Passport Photo
· Form DS-11, completed but not signed
Payments for the Department of State (check only) and the Execution Fee (cash or check made out to the Town of Plainville only)
