The Southeastern Libraries' Legislative Breakfast will be held at the Lakeville Public Library, 4 Precinct St, Lakeville, MA. If you can't be there - tell your state legislator why libraries are important to you and your family. Find your reps here.
Did you know that despite the fact that state library line items total only 0.07% of the state budget, since 2001, funding for the four line items supporting library Resource Sharing have been cut drastically and together are down 30%. Cuts in on the four line items create a ripple effect in the others and have a direct impact in cities and town, putting Resource Sharing at risk for all libraries. Your local libraries depend on State Aid funds to fund important programs and services. Tell your legislators why libraries are important to you. They want to hear from you. Free admission to the RISD Museum is now available with our pass. The Friends of the Plainville Public Library purchased this pass. This pass admits 2 adults and all children in the household for free.
This pass is reciprocal with free admission to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Peabody Essex Museum - so you can use this pass at any of the three art museums. It is a returnable pass so you must drop it in our book drop on your way home the evening of your visit. Please visit the museum websites for their hours. Book Your passes Now! The whole family is welcome to come play 6 holes of mini golf strategically placed around the library. This year we invite you play through the worlds of Star Wars: Naboo, Tatooine, Bespin, Endor, Hoth and the Trash Compactor on the Death Star. Available during regular library hours January 19 - 30.
Melissa Campbell, Library Director, is popping in at the Plainvile Senior Center Mondays from 9-10am in January and February with a special selection of movies and large print books to check out with your SAILS Library card. No library card? We can fix that right on site and get you a new card, just have your driver's license. So don't make 2 trips - make one - and visit the Senior Center and the Library at one time. PS. There were muffins and danish this past Monday - Yum!
Happy New Year! We are pleased to announce a trial opening on Fridays from 1-5pm from January 22 through May 27, 2016. We are collecting data to determine the need to be open on Fridays in order to replace the hours lost to us when our budget was cut in 2008.
