Play with a Purpose
Dramatic Play Area - Theme of the Month Need a Play date?
The new year has begun so come and explore your artistic side in the Art Studio in our play area!
We invite all Moms Clubs in our, and neighboring, communities to come and experience our new Play with a Purpose Area for a play date! We have implemented a new infant play area, as well as literacy, art and STEM/tinkering learning centers, in coordination with a new dramatic play area, for toddlers through preschoolers. These new Play with a Purpose areas are all part of the grant we received with the intent to provide opportunities for Kindergarten readiness for everyone. The new play unit in the dramatic play space was built by the cabinetry students of Tri-County Regional Vocational High School who worked with the students in Early Education and Care as well as Visual and Graphic Design to create the manipulatives and graphics for the themes they chose to explore. We will change the themes monthly to engage children in exciting, active, dramatic play.
The Mind in the Making grant is funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Board of Library Commissioners.
Babies are just getting started on self discovery and large motor movement. Our area will feature a baby play cube with mirrors, soft mats, activity panels and more to create basic learning opportunities for your child.
What's on the cart?
As part of this grant, Miss Laura is creating three special carts with a rotating cast of activities which will help your child play and learn. Just one cart will be available for use at a time and Miss Laura will let you know which one is available on Facebook. Carts will feature a varieity of STEAM and Early Literacy activities so a visit to the library could never the same twice. Always come by to see what's on tap to supplement your child's learning and play
