Senior Home Delivery

This service is a partnership between the Plainville Public Library and the Plainville Senior Center. It is available to homebound individuals or those who only have transportation to the Senior Center. Registration Form now available on line as a pdf document. You will need adobe acrobat to read it.

Here's how it all works....

Why not have a few friends come over and stay awhile? And guess what, these friends don’t eat a thing. They’re books, books on tape or cd,  or large print titles from the Plainville Public Library. That right, the Plainville Public Library and the Council on Aging his teaming up to bring books to those Plainville residents who cannot come to the library. It’s called an Outreach Service and here’s how it works:

  1. You sign up for a special Outreach library card.
  2. Fill out the back of the form and tell us what kind of books you like to read and in what format.
  3.  Either pick up your delivery of books at the senior center the first Thursday of the month or ask Sue if your eligible for home delivery.
  4. Return your bag of books to the senior center when you pick up your next delivery the next month.

The computer picks out books for you based on your preferences and never suggests the same thing twice.  Preferences are easily changed at any time, and you can even ask for specific authors or titles you’ve seen. Remember this is just like checking book out from the library so you are responsible for their care and safe return each month. But we know you wouldn’t want to hurt or lose a friend. And that’s just what these are; cozy friends who would love to come over to your house and keep you company this winter.

Outreach Card Forms are available at the Senior Center and the Library. Or they are available by clicking here as a pdf document. You will need adobe acrobat to read them. So don’t wait. Do it today to be included on our next delivery!
