How long does one AAA battery last? A standard AAA battery will provide about 12 hours of playtime. How do I know how much battery is left in my unit? The Playaway has a small battery icon that is displayed on the screen. There are 4 levels of battery life reflected in the icon. When one bar is left you have 20% power left. How do I change the battery? Locate the battery clip at the wide base of the player. Then, use your thumb or coin to push the clip which will allow you to unsnap and remove the cover. After that, remove the old battery and replace with a fully charged battery. Lastly, snap the cover back into place. Do you need the old batteries back? Yes! We do need the batteries back after you listen to Playaway. We provide you with a battery when you check it out and we expect one back. We understand you might have to change the battery for yourself sometimes, due to the amount of listening time required for that book. Can I use my own headphones? You have to. We do not circulate headphones. The Playaway has a universal headphone jack and can work with almost any headphones, speakers or car adapters. For a limited time you can purchase ear buds at the circulation desk for $2 if you do not have a pair. Can I use Playaway in the car? Yes. Playaway was specifically designed to use the most commonly available cassette adapters and FM transmitters. Or use your AUX jack, just like you would for your iPod. What do I do if my Playaway locks up? Like any good storyteller, sometimes the Playaway needs a moment to catch its breath. First turn it off and on. If that doesn’t work, remove and reinsert the battery. How do I remove bookmarks? In order to remove previous bookmarks you must press the bookmark button at the time you are viewing the bookmark on the LCD screen. The fastest way to do this if by using the “skip forward” button. You will be able to view each chapter and bookmark for that title.

Library Cards
Here is your keychain style card
Here is your wallet card! Have you forgotten your library card by your computer when you picked up books? Did your husband take your keys again? Now, don't miss a beat. We have stronger, longer lasting, and no rub off barcode library cards that come in a matched set of Keychain and a regular card style. For Just $2 ... Make the switch! Library Cards on your iPhone/iTouch - Yes! we will accept the new scan-able barcodes you can carry with you on your iTouch or iPhone. If you are wondering what they are - There is a free App called "My Cardstar". It works with your rewards cards - like CVS, Shaw's, Bob's, etc, but they have a section for LIBRARY CARDS. You enter your barcode number from your library card and it creates a scan-able barcode we can use at the library in place of your regular library card. Please remember you are still responsible for your library card and its use. Treat it like a credit card and report to us any stolen or lost cards ASAP, so we can deactivate your card. They say they are currently working on apps for droid and blackberry, which should be forthcoming.
