The Plainville Public Library supports Early Literacy! See Also: Storytimes, Tumblebooks, Info For Parents/Caregivers Early Literacy Stop
NEW! Check it out in our Bruins Reading Rink area. Anytime the library is open you can come in with your child to use the Early Literacy Stop. We use pizza sheets and magnets to make cool interactive anytime activities. Early reading and math literacy activities will be rotated at random intervals. Located on the Bruins' table We are thankful to the inspiration of the Texas State Libraries workshop and a generous gift from the MOMS Club of Norfolk, Plainville and Wrentham, for providing us with this unique opportunity to create a passive early literacy program that is available to all anytime the library is open. Be sure to check out our handouts for parents located on the window sill above the table. Rotating Early Literacy Stop Activities: Matching Farm Sounds, Very Hungry Caterpillar, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, Farm Counting, Learning Money, Making Words, Fill in the Missing Word, Shapes, Bingo, Setting the Table, and more.
For ages 0-2 we offer Mother Goose on the Loose on Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:15am. It is an interactive music and repetition program for children and their caregivers For age 3-6 we offer a traditional Storytime with a small craft on Wednesdays at 1pm. It has stories and finger plays and a small craft revolving around a specific topic.
